Buckbeak, also known as Witherwings, is a Hippogriff in the "Harry Potter" series. He has the front legs, wings, and head of a giant eagle and the body, hind legs, and tail of a horse. With a proud and noble demeanor, Buckbeak is sensitive to the respect shown to him and can be dangerous if provoked.

In "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," Buckbeak is introduced as a magical creature taught by Hagrid during Care of Magical Creatures classes. After an incident involving Draco Malfoy, Buckbeak is sentenced to death for attacking the student. However, with the help of Hermione's Time-Turner, Harry and Hermione save Buckbeak by freeing him from his chains, allowing him to escape and live in the Forbidden Forest.
